Hey everybody! Welcome to my history of art blog! My name is Marcus Roberson, calling me Marcus is just fine by me. I am a junior here at CSUP and am majoring in Business with an emphasis in marketing. Hobbies for myself include a lot of active things such as working out, playing sports such as Baseball, basketball and golf. Other hobbies include making music for fun and playing video games of course. I'm unsure what the future with my degree holds, however my cousin has had success with his own clothing company based out of Denver called Astro Apparel,( check them out for sure, tell me what you think!) And hopefully with my education and degree, i can bring something to the company and help them grow any way possible!

   This is it Ikenga of the Igbo people, who reside in today's  country of Nigeria. I selected this artifact because of my curiosity of African culture.

Two Royal Figures

Great Zimbabwe

       Great Zimbabwe is generally described as, “one of the most dramatic architectural landscapes in sub-Saharan Africa.” (Smarthistory.org) The word Zimbabwe translates from the Bantu language of the Shona to two different possible meanings. It either translates to either,” judicial center” or “ruler’s court or house.” Aside from being the monumental architecture of ancient Egypt, it also is the largest stone complex in Africa built before the modern era. The capital of Zimbabwe is only a four-hour drive from the ruins that remain, constructed between the 11th and 15 th century. From what we know, clay structures and excavations have displayed interior furnishings such as pot-stands, elevated sleeping surfaces and seating surfaces.
